BLEACH IS PERMANENT, DON'T BE STUPID!

Do a strand test FIRST.
If your hair is previously bleached, colored or permed, it may not be suitable for further chemical treatments.
Wear the freakin gloves.
Use in a well ventilated area.
Don't use on eyelashes, eyebrows or other body hair.
Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
If you wear contact lenses, use eye protection.
Cover shoulders, clothes - anything important, bleach is mean!
Keep bleach out of the sun and heat.
Store in a cool dry place.
Keep away from your eyes.
Don't keep leftover bleach.
Don't use on a broken scalp.
If your hair has already been messed up, this might not be a hot idea.

STRAND TEST

A strand test is necessary for you to see what shade your hair will lighten up to.
Take a teaspoonful of Powder Bleach (PLASTIC teaspoon) and place in a non-metallic bowl (i.e. plastic, glass, etc). Then take a teaspoonful of peroxide and use the tinting brush to mix together until smooth and creamy.
Snip off a few strands of hair from a place where it will not be noticed, e.g. the nape of the neck.
Tie these strands together, e.g., an elastic band, piece of cotton.
Then using the tinting brush, cover the strands of hair with bleach mixture. Leave the strands resting on the side of the bowl and test.
When you have achieved your desired colour, rinse the bleach mixture off, dry and check that you have the desired colour.
Make a note of how long the bleach mixture was left on the strands of hair. This will give you a good indication of the colour your hair will lighten to. When you are hapy with the colour, apply the product according to the below instructions. A maximum of 90 minutes is a good indication of the shade which can be achieved on your hair.

FULL BLEACHING

1. FOR FIRST TIME BLEACHING, part hair into four sections. Doing one section at a time, apply the bleach starting one inch away from the scalp. Be sure to saturate the hair. Be sure to leave at least 1/3 of the mixture.
2. When hair has turned a light orange, golden blonde tone, apply the remaining mix to the root area of the hair, until entire head is covered. Do not use the development cap.
3. FOR TOUCH-UP BLEACHING, skip to step two - only applying bleach to untreated hair roots, or other areas you wish to bleach.
4. Proceed to FINISHING.

BRUSH ON HIGHLIGHTS

For less uniform natural highlights.
1. Comb dry hair into sections designated to be bleached.
2. Using the tint brush, paint thich coats of bleach over areas you wish to be highlighted.
3. Carefully, so as not to smear, place the development cap over hair.
4. Proceed to FINISHING.

TIPS & DIPS

For the ends of your hair.
1. For short hair, follow highlight instructions above, using the small holes on cap.
2. For medium length hair, use the gloves to pick up bleach and squeeze onto the end of your hair.
3. For long hair grasp the ends and dip them into the tray of bleach.
4. In all cases, make sure hair is saturated with as much bleach as possible.
5. Proceed to FINISHING.

HIGHLIGHTS AND CHUNKS

For even highlighted areas.
1. Part and comb dry hair the way you mormally do and put on the highlight cap.
2. For highlights, pull strands of hair through the small circles on the cap. For chunks, use the larger holes. For best results use included hook. Slide hook in against head then angle up when pushing out.
3. Use the tint brush to apply generous amounts of bleach to the exposed strands of hair. Saturate it as much as possible.
4. Put on the development cap and secure tightly.
5. Proceed to FINISHING.

FINISHING

1. Keep a close watch on the hair as it develops. Use a small paper towel to wipe a strand clear to check color.
2. PLEASE NOTE that depending on the orignial shade of your hair, bleaching results will vary. Some darker hair types may require a second or third treatment to lighten to the desired shade. The hair will often shift through tones of brown, blonde, orange, and yellow during the process.
3. When hair is desired shade, or if bleaching time exceeds 90 minutes, rinse the mixture from your hair until water runs clear. IF YOU USED THE HIGHLIGHT CAP, rinse first with the cap on, then remove the cap and rinse again.
4. If a second or more treatments are needed, wait at least 48 hours before applying. Wait a few hours if you plan to apply Punky semi-permanent colour.
5. After washing bleach from hair, towel dry. Remove yellow and brassy tones with platinum toner.
6. Using gloves, apply toner to hair. Work into hair, massaging evenly.
7. If hair is near white, or bright yellow, leave on for 3-10 minutes. If hair is full-yellow, leave on for 10-13 minutes.
8. Rinse hair until water runs clear. Follow with Punky Conditioner.
